Green Bay Packaging wants to relocate from the industrial park, currently in four buildings, which is inefficient. The plan is to have a one-building option at the Holy Hill interchange.
The presentation is fairly clear, and based on the fact that the Holy Hill area has been ruined by large monolithic warehouses, this complex will be an improvement.
Previously, the plan commission were hung up on the 2050 plan, recently approved, and showing mixed use residential and retail in this area. However, they are moving ahead.
The railroad is a big problem, in spite of the Village planning department thinking it wouldn’t be. last year. Apparently, it is expensive and takes much work to allow a road to cross a railroad. Who’da thunk it?
Because of this, they are now thinking that due to more wetlands than expected in the Freistadt area (another who’d da) they are talking about moving the mixed use residential and retail from Holy Hill to Freistadt because the wetlands reduces the large building site options. Hooray!
Generally, people’s comments favored the project, wanting a better look for the building than currently in the area, and no tax money for road work, or loans or anything that will add debt to the village. A couple of local people to the site were against the project.
We’re still waiting for those neighborhood meetings with adjacent residents, just saying.
Other topics included legal chickens in residential areas, and equity for garages in residential areas. Both technical changes to the zoning code. The return of the townhouses along Fond du Lac, near the Kuhberg coffee shop. This project has taken six years to get through the process, derailed by C-19 and other extenuating circumstances. Chase bank wants to put a new location at the Fleet Farm property. Self storage area beside the quarry on Appleton returned also, to expand with phase three. Some interesting technical things they had to do to make the land support the buildings. Last item was the sign at the new DPW building. The hang up is the font style.
This was the first meeting where the public comments were handled at the end of the meeting.
